Lukas Rossi
Lukas Rossi has proven that his vocal talents reach well beyond the "Mercury meets Buckley" comparisons offered by the general media. His vocal gift spans seven octaves ("and one half note") from a deep guttural baritone to soaring soprano riffs. His songwriting has gained recognition from the industry as well as the International People's Voice Awards for Songwriting.
Lukas has written and performed a remarkable number of songs during his 17 year career. His catalog encompasses a full range of genre from acoustic ballads to heart-wrenching tirades of pain and powerful musical statements about the state of today's world.
The development of this versatile artist began in the Jane and Lawrence area of Toronto Canada. Coping with a difficult childhood and broken home, he found solace in the music that he shared with his brother. Lukas recognized early in his life that he was able to produce his own songs with ease and found comfort in the process.
Before 2006, Lukas formed and fronted two bands in Canada. The first was Cleavage (1995-2005) with brothers, Jonathan and Bill Jamieson. In 2005 he partnered with Pulse Ultra's guitarist, Dominic Cifarelli, and his friend, Jay Cianfrini, to form the band, Rise Electric in Montreal.
Lukas earned a publishing deal with EMI Music Canada in 2004 which covers many of the Cleavage tracks as well as all of the Rise Electric music and other songs recently submitted. Lukas Rossi has co-written and appeared with other well-known Canadian bands.
While Rise Electric was on hiatus in the spring of 2006, Lukas flew to LA to compete in the popular television show, Rock Star: Supernova, as an audition for a new band comprised of Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Jason Newsted (Metallica), and Gilby Clark (Guns N' Roses). His selection as lead singer of Rock Star Supernova earned Lukas a world tour of the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
|
| |
After completing his tour, Lukas returned to LA to begin work on his own solo acoustic act. The Love and Lust EP was released in June 2007 and Lukas took to the road. After road testing dozens of new songs, Lukas decided it was time to form his latest band, Stars Down.
The influences of Lukas' new band, Stars Down, collectively range everywhere from Jeff Buckley to The Cure to Queen, however Stars Down's music is very fresh, very new, and very much their own. Layered with melodic harmonies, and a stellar (no pun intended) ability to grab the crowd by the balls, the Stars Down sound is emotive and tortured, yet inspiring and hopeful, and in the unforgettable soaring vocals of Lukas Rossi, the listener ultimately finds redemption.
No stranger to the stage and television, Lukas performed live at the 2006 Gemini awards, appeared on (and won) the CBS television series Rock Star: Supernova (9 million viewers in the US, another 9 million worldwide), as well as appearing on Ellen, Regis & Kelly, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Entertainment Tonight, The Howard Stern Show, and ET Canada.
Lukas Rossi and his band Stars Down are ready to bring the collective alternative rock talents of Stars Down--from heart-wrenching ballads to balls out rock n’ roll--to the hungry eyes and ears of music fans everywhere.
Lukas Rossi and Stars Down will introduce their most recent work with the first album, Mood Swings, in 2009.
Lukas is a producer, songwriter, teaches vocals and gives stagecraft instruction.

Marshall Dane
Spring 2009
From the beginning music has been both inspiration and salvation for Marshall Dane. Born in small-town Southern Ontario, he was raised by a preacher father and god-fearing mother, amidst a musical setting of Sunday family jamborees. He might have been listening to Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash, but when Marshall went out at age 15 and solicited his first resident house gig, it was his own true blend of rootsy rock music that won over the crowd.
A few years later and Marshall found himself settled but still searching in a “cozy-by-most” government job – so he said good-bye and turned to find sanctity in writing, recording, and gigging full time. Settling a few hours from home, Marshall started making his mark as an acoustic singer-songwriter in Toronto. Nightly shows in music clubs became a way of life and although the highs of being an independent artist came as frequent as the lows, the music didn’t quit burning.
|
| |
In 2003 Marshall released the first of two albums, the self-produced “35 Dollars & Cheesecake” and then “Weapons of the Future”(2007), produced by Brian Allen (Former A&R Attic Records / Heart; Producer: Haywire; Lee Aaron). As word caught on of this electric and exciting new vocalist, Marshall started earning radio play and commercial work. He built ongoing demand for over 300 shows annually as a solo act as well as leading his seven piece band. And then, in 2008, the relentless pursuit of grandeur won him the acclaimed “Best Live Electric Band” at the Toronto Independent Music Awards.
This rising story of break out success is the perfect recipe for a country song – and that’s exactly what it’s become. Marshall’s recent segue to country roots music is a clear cut revival of where he’s come from and evidence of his devout journey up to this point. Now frequently traveling to Nashville, Marshall is gaining the respect of the Music Row songwriters and collaborating on a collection of hits for his highly anticipated new album.
This level of success has been a long time coming – but as he’ll tell you, Marshall Dane is again, only beginning.

Oliver Pigott
He is all at once a powerful singer, timeless songwriter and magnetic, explosive performer. Standing 6 foot 2 inches with a crop of outrageously wild hair, Oliver´s presence commands your attention. What most people recognize instantly is the kid´s astounding lyrical abilities. As one admirer from Los Angeles explained, ´´It´s almost as if Oliver has spent his young life on a train and seen the world in all its joy, pain, benevolence, cruelty and social injustice.´´ The tunes, too, speak of a world-weary soul, resulting in a wonderful melodic mix of blues, country, folk and rock ´n´ roll. After the passing of his father, a blues harmonica player, Oliver picked up the instrument. He was twelve.
|
| |
He began to perform in bars along the Algarve in Portugal. Returning to Toronto, Canada, Oliver gathered a passionate legion of fans with his band ´´Laughing Sam´s Dice´´, playing such legendary clubs as The El Mocambo and The Opera House. His following grew ever stronger. Now based in the UK and Canada, a 2008 Canadian Idol finalist (along with his brother Sebastian) and a ubiquitous presence in clubs across both countries, the rest of the world is about to discover what his many admirers already know. In the words of one devoted Pigott concertgoer, ´´Oliver picks up that guitar and steps up to the microphone like he´s coming home. I´ve seen him so many times because he´s twenty feet tall onstage and I can´t look away.´´

Suzie McNeil
"The best thing about the team at DOS guitars is that they care... they care about musicians, they care about their quality of guitars, and they care about their customers. Making musical instruments is an art form; and they understand that. My DOS acoustic is truely beautiful, I love to look at it, and more importantly I love to play it!!!!"

It is this same sense of magic and possibility, a tireless commitment to craftsmanship, and the primal drive to create that compels Mike, Natalie, and the entire team at Dot On Shaft guitars to rise above in this their labour of love. And, it’s why when Tribe 11 guitarist Russell Gray and bassist Tom Lewis first picked up their Dot On Shaft instruments and let the first notes ring out, they were heard to proclaim. “This is good, this is very good…”
|
|
|
